In this week’s episode, we touch on how important it is to set time aside to grow your business, and Billy’s “protecting your family” mentality.

A powerful 5-step hiring practice
1) Set aside a little bit of time each week that focuses on you growing your business. Next steps, 5-year visions, business development, forecasting…set the time aside and pretend that it is a client and you must show up for them. Put it in your schedule and commit to it.
2) Once you’ve set your priority, don’t be afraid to say “no” to things that don’t directly point you in that direction.
3) Find a team that is excited to be empowered and to act as leaders. Give them ownership, support, and knowledge to build.
Billy shares his hiring process with us. It is a 5-step hiring process for trainers at DIAKADI. First, they will tour the facility with a current team member. They then are asked to fill out a thorough intake form with essay questions that find out who they are and what they are interested in. Thirdly, they have a “protect the family” interview – this is heavily focused on personality. Will everyone involved be excited to spend time together, day in, day out, and maintain a family mentality? From here, now we are able to assess programming, content, knowledge, etc. I have them walk me through their process – start to finish. They treat Billy as they do a new client, from from confirming the session, client assessment, and follow up. This shows their professionalism, attention to detail, punctuality, along with their skills. Following this, they take the assessment data and write a program plan. They walk Billy through the program and explain their decision making process. The last step of the process is a shadow training session.
4) Life lessons:
Set a bar, and go above and beyond (what your clients would expect, what your competitors are doing, etc.)
Be selfish. Meaning, take care of yourself first.
Be reliable. When you say you are going to do it, do it, and exceed expectations.
